Radio Australia launches digital radio in Singapore

Radio Australia has officially launched its service on digital radio in Singapore. Listeners can now tune in directly to Radio Australia’s English and Chinese (Mandarin) programmes in high digital quality on Singapore’s Rediffusion subscription service.
Together with the Australian International School in Singapore (AISS), Radio Australia has also initiated the establishment of a live broadcast studio on the AISS campus. Radio Australia’s ‘Airducation Broadcasting Channel’ enables students to broadcast live via digital radio over an education channel provided by Rediffusion.
Head of Radio Australia, Jean-Gabriel Manguy, said: “We believe the availability of Radio Australia will foster greater mutual understanding between Singapore and Australia and significantly enhance the quality and depth of radio programming on offer to Singapore and to Australian expatriate audiences. We believe RA’s presence will also further strengthen links between Singaporeans and Australians at a cultural and educational level. After all, there is already so much going on between both countries.”
As well as being available in English 24 hours a day on Rediffusion’s digital radio, Radio Australia will also be heard in Mandarin for 90 minutes every night with a daily offering of information and educational programmes.
