Ban lifted on Radio France Internationale relay

Text of report by Ivorian TV on 6 May
On 31 January 2008, the National Council of Audiovisual Communication [CNCA] suspended the broadcasts of Radio France Internationale [RFI] throughout the national territory for non-compliance with written and verbal agreements, especially concerning the basing of a correspondent in Abidjan.
On 28 March 2008, the management of RFI informed the CNCA by mail of the nomination of Norbert Navarro, journalist, to the position of special permanent envoy of the aforementioned radio in Cote d’Ivoire. On 16 April 2008, the CNCA received an RFI delegation that came to inform it of the arrival of Navarro on 5 May in Abidjan to start his duties.
The CNCA finds that on 6 May, Navarro is effectively in Abidjan in the framework of the mission that was assigned to him by the management of RFI.
In light of the preceding, the CNCA authorizes the resumption of RFI broadcasts on FM and on satellite throughout all of the national territory from Tuesday 6 May 2008.
